Last weekend my daughter was in her first play, The Wizard of Oz, produced by Project Daydream. During the intense 5 week rehearsal schedule, we came to know many of the families and cast members, and the camaraderie among the kids was heartwarming.
In a fortunate twist of fate, the director of the show invited me to take pictures of the production. These images are from the tech/dress rehearsal, and unfortunately The Cowardly Lion had a prior engagement.
While I did not intend to become overly involved, I found myself donating my household goods as stage props, my time as a backstage mom, and my expertise and knowledge of arts and crafts in set construction. I quickly found myself remembering the fun I had as a set designer/crew member for my High School and College productions. Overall the experience was positive for my daughter, and I can say that she now has the theater bug too.
